How to become a Twitch Affiliate in 2026

The four requirements
You must hit all four within the same rolling 30-day window:
- Reach 25 followers.
- Stream for 4 hours in total.
- Stream on 4 different days.
- Reach an average of 3 viewers, on 4 different days.
You also need Two-Factor Authentication enabled on your account โ this is a hard requirement for onboarding, so turn it on early rather than discovering it at the finish line. If you are 13โ17, you can join with parental or guardian consent and supervision.
How the viewer requirement actually works
This is the one that confuses everyone. "Average of 3 viewers" means 3 concurrent viewers โ three people watching at the same time โ not 3 total views across the stream.
The good news is that bad days do not count against you. Twitch looks for 4 days that hit a 3-viewer average; days below that are simply ignored. If you streamed 10 days in the last 30 and 4 of them averaged 3 or more viewers, you meet the requirement. The other 6 do nothing to your eligibility.
Tracking your progress
Go to your Creator Dashboard โ Achievements. Twitch tracks all four requirements there automatically, with progress bars. You do not need a third-party tool and you do not need to apply โ eligibility is detected for you.
Getting the invite
- The invite arrives by email and Twitch notification, typically 24โ48 hours after you become eligible, occasionally up to 72.
- The email is only a notification. If you delete it, you can still start onboarding from your Creator Dashboard.
- If nothing appears after 72 hours: confirm all four achievements show complete, confirm they were all met inside the same 30-day window, check your spam folder, and make sure your email is verified. Then contact Twitch support.
What Affiliate actually unlocks in 2026
So what does Affiliate actually get you? The ability to be paid. Anyone can receive subs and Bits now, but only Affiliates and Partners can withdraw that money.
- Payouts. You need Affiliate or Partner status to receive a payout at all, once your balance clears Twitch's $50 minimum threshold.
- Ads โ some control over ad breaks on your channel.
- Spendable Balance (US, rolling out globally) lets you use money you've earned *before* you hit $50 โ buying Bits or gifting subs to other streamers with your own balance. Enroll via the Creator Dashboard.
The practical upshot for a brand-new streamer is better than it used to be: go set up your emotes and Channel Points today, whether or not you qualify for anything. Emotes are how a community develops an in-group identity, and you no longer have to wait to build one.
The honest expectation about money
Affiliate is a milestone, not an income. A channel that just cleared these requirements is typically earning single-digit or low-double-digit dollars per month, and payouts only arrive once your balance crosses Twitch's minimum threshold โ which can take months at that level. Treat it as proof of progress and as the moment your community gets emotes, not as a career change.
The fastest legitimate route there
Three of the four requirements are pure consistency โ 4 hours across 4 days is a low bar if you simply keep a schedule. The 3-average-viewer requirement is the real one, and it is a discovery problem, not a time problem.
- Pick categories with a good viewer-to-channel ratio so a new channel can actually appear on browse pages โ the full method is in how to get your first 10 viewers.
- Stream at consistent times so the same people can find you again.
- Tell friends when you are going live for those specific sessions. Real friends watching is completely legitimate; purchased viewers are not, and they will wreck the very average this requirement measures.
- Do not buy followers or viewers. Beyond the ban risk, fake concurrents distort your average-viewer number in ways that can push eligibility further away.
After Affiliate, the next tier is Partner โ a much higher bar with no published guaranteed threshold, based on audience size, consistency, and content quality.
